Kiya Tomlin is a designer and apparel manufacturer, with a repertoire ranging from ready-to-wear to couture design. With a love of fashion since childhood, Kiya submerged herself in design textbooks and sewing manuals, creating prom dresses for friends and family. After graduating from The College of William and Mary, Kiya realized her childhood hobby was actually her true passion. She enrolled at The University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art and Architectural Planning to study design formally, and then continued to elevate her craft through fit and couture workshops around the country. After almost two decades of designing custom apparel, Kiya has an understanding of women’s endless search for both comfort and style, and the importance of being able to move seamlessly through the various roles women play throughout the day. Kiya was inspired by her own busy lifestyle as wife to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, and mother of three, to design the impossible–a versatile dress that combines runway glamour with the comfort and ease of a favorite sweatshirt. This Signature dress became the anchor for her ready-to-wear collection, Kiya Tomlin, and addresses the modern day woman’s need for comfort, style and versatility. Her collection is manufactured in her own factory in Pittsburgh, PA and sold on-line, at her retail store in Etna and in select boutiques across the country.
Between her busy schedule as business woman, wife and mother to her three children. Kiya always makes time to support a variety of causes throughout the city and beyond. Having served on the board of the Warhol Museum, the Hill House and is currently serving in her 10th year as a board member for the Pittsburgh Promise. Her most recent venture is a t-shirt designed for the non-profit, Operation Underground Railroad. 100% of the proceeds from the purchase of the KIYA TOMLIN x O.U.R. t-shirt raises funds and awareness for the rescue and aftercare services for child victims of sex trafficking.
